Marilu Henner Bio
Mary Lucy Denise Henner, born on April 6, 1952 was an
American actor and producer. Her career began in the 1971 musical Grease, Henner made her
debut on the screen in the comedy-drama film Between the Lines in 1977. In 1977
she was cast as Elaine O'Connor Nardo on the sitcom ABC/NBC Taxi. She was
awarded five Golden Globe Award nominations. She was a part of several films which included Hammett
(1982), The Man Who Loved Women (83), Cannonball Run II (1884) and Johnny
Dangerously (1884), RustlersRhapsody (1985), Rustlers Rhapsody (1985),
Ladykillers(88), L.A. Story (1991) and the film Noises Off (1992). After her role in CBS' Evening Shade (1990-1994) She
returned to television and became an actor in several television-produced
films. Henner was an University of Chicago
student from Hyde Park, Chicago, played the character of Marty in the 1971
Kingston Mines production of Grease. She
was given the chance to reprise the role once more when the show moved to
Broadway. But, she chose to play the part of "Marty" along with John
Travolta who played "Doody". Henner
also has Broadway credits, including Over Here! with Travolta and a revival of
Pal Joey. Social Security was also renewed. The Tale of the Allergist's Wife is
another Broadway credits. Her first film
appearance in the 1977 sleeper-hit Between the Lines. It was a comedy that
featured then unknown actors John Heard, Lindsay Crouse and Jill Eikenberry. She was a co-star with Richard Gere in 1978's Bloodbrothers.
