Dormer, born 11 February 1982 is an English actress from England. Her
accomplishments include winning an Empire Award, and receiving nominations for
the Critics' Choice Awards, two Gemini Awards and two Screen Actors Guild
Awards. Dormer was born in Reading, Berkshire. She made her name in the role of
Anne Boleyn, a role she played on the Showtime series The Tudors (2008), which
received acclaim from the public. She made her stage debut in the stage play
Sweet Nothings (2010) and played the Duchess of York in Madonna's movie W.E.
(2011) as well as Private Lorraine in Captain America: The First Avenger
(2011). The Young Vic praised her performance in After Miss Julie (2012).
Dormer was praised internationally and received attention for her roles as
Margaery Tyrell (2012-2016 on HBO) and Cressida (2014-2015 on The Hunger
Games), which are among her most-watched films. She was also a part of Irene
Adler/Moriarty on the CBS series Elementary (2013-15), Sara Price Jess Price (2016,
2017) and Onica in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019). She was praised
for her performance in Penny Dreadful City of Angels (2020). Dormer was born in
Reading (Berkshire), England on 11 February 1982. She is the daughter of Gary
Dormer, Claire Richards and Samantha Dormer.
